Publication Ethics
The Soeharso Orthopaedic Journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. All parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to adhere to ethical principles that ensure integrity, transparency, and academic honesty. The journal follows guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors must ensure that:

Submitted manuscripts are original, free from plagiarism, and have not been published previously or submitted simultaneously to another journal.

All data and results are presented accurately and honestly, without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation.

All sources are properly cited, and previous work is appropriately acknowledged.

Authorship is limited to individuals who have made a substantial contribution to the research. All contributors must be listed, and no guest or ghost authorship is permitted.

Any conflicts of interest—financial, academic, or personal—are fully disclosed.

Research involving human or animal subjects follows ethical standards and includes approval from an appropriate ethics committee.

Authors obtain permission to reproduce any third-party material included in the manuscript.

Any use of generative AI tools is transparently disclosed and limited to permitted tasks (e.g., language editing), and AI tools are not listed as authors.
If authors discover a significant error in their published work, they must notify the editor promptly to issue a correction or retraction.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers play an essential role in maintaining the quality of the journal. Reviewers must:

Provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations of submitted manuscripts.

Maintain confidentiality of all materials received for review.

Decline reviews where conflicts of interest exist.

Identify possible ethical issues, plagiarism, or data inconsistencies and report them to the editor.

Avoid using information obtained during peer review for personal advantage.
Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for:

Making fair and impartial decisions on manuscripts based on academic merit, originality, and relevance to the journal.

Ensuring a transparent and efficient double-blind peer-review process.

Maintaining confidentiality of manuscript information.

Acting upon allegations of misconduct promptly and following COPE guidelines for resolving ethical concerns.

Avoiding conflicts of interest in editorial decision-making.

Ensuring that published content meets high ethical and scientific standards.
Misconduct and Ethical Irregularities
The journal takes misconduct seriously, including:

Undisclosed conflicts of interest

Misrepresentation of authorship

Inappropriate use of generative AI (e.g., generating data or results)
Suspected misconduct will be investigated following COPE procedures. Outcomes may include rejection, retraction, corrections, or notification to authors’ institutions.
Retraction, Correction, and Withdrawal Policy
The journal may issue:

Retractions for major ethical violations or unreliable findings

Corrections for honest errors that do not impact the overall reliability of the work

Expressions of Concern when investigations are ongoing

Withdrawal for manuscripts with serious ethical issues discovered before publication
Open Access and Licensing
All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), allowing others to share and adapt the work with proper attribution.
